Winner of the Shabby Apple Giveaway!

The giveaway for a Shabby Apple Cortez dress was to celebrate reaching 600 followers. I'd like to thank you all again for reading, following and commenting. The winner of the beautiful dress is...

Anna at IHOD

Congrats! Please email me your size and shipping info. Thanks to all who entered and to Shabby Apple for sponsoring the giveaway.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

What are you doing to celebrate? I'm thinking of trying one of the cocktail recipes in the new Goop newsletter like the Jam Cocktail from Madam Geneva's:

• 2 oz 42 Below Vodka or Beefeater Gin

• 1 oz lemon juice

• 1 oz simple syrup

• Crushed ice

• Spoonful of jam

In a shaker, add jam, vodka or gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and several ice cubes. Shake briskly, and strain into a rocks glass half-filled with crushed ice. Float a spoonful of jam on top of the ice, and gradually stir it in to taste. (Makes 1)

Have a great day!

Happy Sunday, Thank Yous & A Giveaway Winner!

{Working on This}

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend. I've spent a lot of it working, but that seems to be my lot in life these days. Not bad, though, as I hope I'm building towards something.

I was lucky enough to receive blog awards from the lovely Lemon and Lavender, Cortizo Decor and Belle on Heels, and just wanted to say a big thank you. Really means a lot.

Also, I wanted to announce the winner of the $65 CSN Gift Certificate:

Congrats! Thanks to everyone who entered and to CSN.

I'm probably one of the few who won't be watching the Superbowl tonight. I just can't get into it. Instead I'm looking forward to a soccer game that's on this afternoon. My husband is off to a Superbowl party so I have an evening free to do anything I want. Love it. What do you have planned for today?

Kate & Andy Spade via The Selby, A Blogger Meetup, GKHair Treatment & a Winner

Happy Sunday everyone! I've been having quite a great weekend so far, how about you? Yesterday I got to attend the Canadian Design Bloggers meetup, which was organized by the amazing Daniella and Vitania. I really can't say enough about these two ladies and all they did to bring last night together, with the help of some great sponsors like GKHair, Delta and other bloggers like Rambling Renovators. It was really a pleasure meeting them and all the other bloggers I had a chance to chat with. I only wish there was more time to properly chat with everyone, although I suspect some of it may have been my fault as I can get sort of shy in that type of mingling situation. Hopefully there will be many more such great events to come so I can get to know everyone! This was my first real blogger event and it was totally cool getting to meet people you feel like you really know and that you admire, but that you've never actually seen before in person! There was good food and drinks, great giveaways and amazing conversation, as well as a kickass goodie bag at the end of the night. Thanks so much to everyone who participated!

Also, I was lucky enough to be offered a keratin hair treatment courtesy of the blogger event's sponsor GKHair. I'm planning on posting about this in depth later on in the week, but considering my hair is both curly and dry, I was definitely looking forward to this bit of pampering. Definitely so far so good!

This event also reminded me to finally put together a post on a great giveaway I won from House 09, something I've been meaning to do for quite some time. I was lucky enough to be chosen to win some blogger business cards that got many oohs and aahs last night. More on that soon as well...

Now for some Sunday eye candy, a glimpse into the home of Kate

Eating Well, the Home Show and Two Winners!

Hope everyone's weekend has been going well. Mine has been pretty much non-stop. Today M and I hit the Toronto Home Show (thanks to Shannon for passing on the tickets!) where I checked out stone options for the fireplace in the new house and saw a front door that I just fell in love with. Afterwards we did a bit of shopping and then, famished, headed into La Bettola di Terroni for an early dinner. From what I can tell Terroni restaurants seem to be a divisive issue for Torontonians, despite always being full. Most seem to agree that the Toronto Terroni locations serve delicious, rustic-style Italian food (they're famous for their pizzas), but a lot of people can't stand that the restaurants have a no-substitution rule. Me? I could care less. I know if I want balsamic vinegar to go with my olive oil bread dip not to head to Terroni. And while I've heard that some have been refused even pepperoncini oil we never have been (it's one of M's must-haves) and tonight were even offered it by a charming Brit waiter. The only thing I can't stand is that this is yet another no-reservation restaurant

While I had been to the other Terronis I had never tried La Bettola on Victoria, located right beside Terroni's Osteria Ciceri e Tria, and overall was happy with it. The concept is supposed to be a "hole in the wall" neighbourhood type place with good wine and better food. One of the first things I noticed when walking in was the cured meats hanging by the doorway, the communal table stretching the length of the room (later occupied by a smiling bride complete with veil) and the big block letters on the far right wall that read, "Il vino scioglie la lingua ed apre il cuore" which means "wine loosens the tongue and opens the heart."

My pizza (La Bufalina, as always) was great and M loved his pasta special (spaghetti with truffles, sausage and pecorino) and Caprese salad. I think my fave part were the fritti (fried) dishes on the menu. For a minute there I was considering ordering all of them and being done with it. They had two of my faves Arancini (rice balls) and Crochette, and I went with the former because the Crochette had mortadella in them. I much prefer them without meat and I can't really stomach mortadella these days after OD'ing on the stuff when I was a kid. We hardly ever get dessert, but I let M eat half my pizza so I could eat the Frittelle di Nutella (I mean, really, did you really expect me to pass it up?) Unfortunately, while good, they didn't live up to my expectations. I'll take a bombe any day of the week. I also got to check out the new location of Grazie--no weekend reservations here either, I think someone is trying to push me over the edge--where the best part of a good meal was the Baked Goat Cheese Salad (pizza was also good as were the gnocchi, which they did for us in a vodka sauce). So, enough about food and on to the winners!
