Who can forget the hilarious 'Pretzel Hat' that Princess Beatrice wore to the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton last Spring.Well she has not disappointed with her latest choice of headgear, causing another stir at the Royal wedding of Zara Phillips (daughter of Princess Ann) to Rugby Captain, Mike Tindall. It was a low key affair but all of the usual suspects didn't disappoint with Kate, "The Austerity Royal" wearing the same coat that she wore to the May 2010 wedding of Mel Nicholson and Oli Baker, at St. Andrews and previously to the 2006 wedding of Laura Parker Bowles and Harry Lopes. Her recycled dress was the same pale gold lace dress that she wore to the 2006 wedding, as well as to a 2007 book signing for Simon Sebag Montefiore’s, "Young Stalin" attending with her sister Pippa Middleton. A good thing to recycle, perhaps now the press will leave her alone.
The Tindalls tried to keep their wedding a private family occasion, but the crowds were determined to share in their happiness during the first Royal wedding to be held in Scotland in 20 years. Zara, 30, will keep her maiden name when she marries. It is understood this is because of her sporting career in equestrianism.
Mr Tindall, from Otley in Yorkshire, plays for club side Gloucester and has been capped more than 60 times for his country. The Duke of York accompanied his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie with no sign of mother Fergie on this occasion either. Princess Beatrice traded in her cat-flap hat for a new one that resembles a satellite dish. Headgear is mandatory at Royal Weddings. Beatrice the 22 year old granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II donned a new creation by the well known British milliner Philip Treacy. William Hill the betting shop took bets on what hat the style icon would wear have seen a run of cash for Princess Beatrice headwear at Zara's Wedding: 1/2 Fascinator, 6/4 Hat, 8/1 No Headwear, 100/1 Crown.
Philip Treacy studied journalism at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. He has designed hats for Alexander McQueen's white Haute Couture collection at Givenchy in Paris and for Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel. He designs hats for all the most important designers in the world including Valentino, Ralph Lauren and Donna Karen. He has been awarded the title of British Accessory Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards on five occasions during the early 1990s.The late Isabella Blow, style editor of Tatler, helped Treacy launch himself as a well known milliner and wore many of his hats. He was awarded an honorary OBE for services to the British fashion industry by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall at a ceremony in Clarence House on 19 November 2007. He has designed hats for various films including Harry Potter films, and designed Sarah Jessica Parker's hat for the première of the film, Sex and the City. Thirty-six of Treacy's hats were worn at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on 29 April 2011, including the hat worn by Princess Beatrice of York, which was widely mocked by the media but later sold on ebay for £81,101 ($131,650) the highest price realised for a hat at auction..
